This morning, as I arrived at Eastern College Pond, I saw a Bald Eagle fly into a tree right at the entrance to the pond. First time ever seeing a bald eagle at the pond. I pointed my camera his way as he flew up and circled the pond with a redwing blackbird trailing behind. He circled a few times, then descended down to the pond grabbed a fish and flew up and away. I took a thousand photographs - all not in very good light, but here's one with both birds in the same frame.

Mourning Dove Today in Valley Forge
I searched and searched for the warblers and finally found a few at the very top of the trees in Valley Forge. I didn't get any good photographs, but on my way out of the woods, this pretty Mourning Dove posed in mid air.

Calling All the Single Ladies
American Toad today in Valley Forge National Park. It is just the beginning of the mating season for these little cuties. They come out of the woods and into the vernal pools where there will be a wild orgy for the next few days. The ladies will lay long strings of eggs that will be fertilized and then a few weeks later, thousands and thousands of tadpoles will be the result. They will then turn into little tiny toads and finally will hop back into the woods after the vernal pools dry up.

Little Peeper in the Bog
They were singing their hearts out in Charlestown Meadows late this afternoon. I put on my boots and walked into the bog and there they were. No bigger than a postage stamp and so aware.
