Sparrow in Yet ANOTHER Storm!!

Well, Yumiko, Ken and I are home again today with another snow storm swirling outside. Looks like we may have school through the end of August. Even through it all, I know those little bulbs are waiting under all this snow to just peak out their heads. Come on Spring!!

Vultures Doing Their Thing

My photo class this week was to find animals doing what they do and catch them in the act. This morning, I found a group of vultures doing what they do best. Might not be a good idea to click on these photos if you have a delicate system. The vultures in the trees are drying their wings after their big breakfast. Guess where those wings were?

Brag, Brag, Brag

My photo "Deer in the Woods" was chosen as a finalist in the January 2010 BetterPhoto contest. I took this guy while lying down on the ground in the woods. Ken is still thinking I will come home with lyme disease one day.

IT"S A BLIZZARD OUT THERE

We've never seen snow like this. Yumiko and I just went outside to try to shake the snow off the tall arborvitae because they are laying down and will soon snap under the weight. We came back in totally chilled to the bone and realized we were too short to do much good. But I just checked and our wonderful neighbor next door who is A LOT taller and had a rake was able to shake a lot of the wet snow off and probably saved those beautiful trees. Here are a few pictures that do not do this storm justice.

First Sign of Spring

While in the basement today, I found a little ladybug. I think she may be a survivor from last year, but even so, she helped me realize that - after all this snow, we just might have spring again. I brought her upstairs and put her on the amaryllis that is blooming on the windowsill and took her picture.

More Snow

We woke up to another dusting of snow this morning. Not enough for a two hour school delay, but just enough to make Valley Forge a beautiful winter land. Here are two quick pics from today's catch. Click on the bottom photo to see that little man hiking away.
