Our dear friends - the McGarry's came over tonight and kindly agreed to let me practice taking pictures with the new portrait lights. Here are Barb and Paul and lovely Laura.

For Those Who Missed the Snake
I had just finished photographing a hover fly on a little wild flower near the Pond at Eastern University when I was approached by a nice man and his son. The man asked if I liked snakes and I said absolutely. He said there was a big black one over by the edge of the pond lying on some black tarp. He took me over and showed me where the snake was. He was a WHOPPER. Check him out.

New Portrait Lighting Kit
Oh boy.... I did a little splurging this week and invested in a portrait lighting kit. It's a wonderful set of lights, umbrellas, and a background. Yumiko and Ken posed for me tonight and we had a lot of fun.

Identify the Bug and Win a Prize
Every time I wait until late in the afternoon I am rewarded with beautiful and interesting bugs. Check out the mites on this little damsel fly (click on for a close look). And then, the first person who can accurately identify the little elephant nosed bug will win a signed photograph and a cup of coffee.
