Our Baby Girl Turned 16!!

Yumiko's 16th birthday was July 14.  Today she (in red) and four of her best friends celebrated in the back yard.  That old bench may not last too much longer.

Lurking in the Garden Today (Click Image for Real Close Up)

Blue Dasher Dragon Fly
Gorgeous Leafhopper

Red Headed Bush Cricket
We got home from a week in California with my best girlfriends from college and I ran out to the vegetable garden to check things out and was horrified to see how the weeds had taken over.  I decided to spend the morning hacking away.  But while I was in the midst of the hack, the beautiful little bugs came out of their hiding places and said to please stop for a minute and take their picture.  So, I stopped for a minute.  Took a few pictures and then went back to the hacking.  The weeds are still there and so are the bugs.

Harbor Seals of Point Reyes, California (Click for a Closer View)

On the Lookout
This past week we flew to California and spent seven wonderful days with my old friends from college.  Way too many pictures to go through, but here are a few of the harbor seals who posed one early morning at Point Reyes.

Laurie on Sassy

Two days ago I was at Valley Forge looking for beautiful birds at dusk when I saw a pretty woman on a beautiful horse riding towards me.  The light was so good and I was so tempted to take her picture with my big long lens, but I didn't want to be rude, so I resisted the urge.  A minute later she was right in front of me and stopped and asked what I photograph.  I told her mostly birds and bugs and maybe a groundhog or two.  She asked if I ever take people.  I said yes - every once in a while.  She asked if I would like to take a picture of her on her horse.  I was thrilled!!  I asked her if she could turn around and ride back up the trail so I could get a good vantage point.  She was happy to comply - and voila - here's that shot.

Look Deep Into My Eyes (click eyes to look deeply)

Red Tailed Hawks have nested on a windowsill at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia for the last three years.  This is one of the beautiful fledglings who left the nest a few weeks ago and was enjoying a bit of rat sushi at the Barnes Museum two days ago when this picture was taken.
