Found the Foxes Again

The foxes were back in Valley Forge this morning.  Two in the same field.  I have a feeling they were husband and wife as they were not territorial. Here's the wife (above).  And the husband (below.)  The wife encountered a cat in the field and the cat never blinked an eye.  Please see bottom photo to see how nervous the cat made the fox as he passed by her.  He's squinting his eyes and sticking out his tongue. Oh those scary kitty cats!!

Baby Great Horned Owls at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge Today

These two little fluff balls were pretty well hidden inside the trunk of a tree.  My friend Christian showed me where they were a few days ago and I went back today and there they were - bright eyed and bushy.

Christian Hunold Looking for Foxes, etc.

I spent the morning with my friends Christian Hunold and Jen Britton looking for foxes in Valley Forge.  We didn't find the foxes, but we did find a groundhog above ground, Robins having conversation, and a bluebird in the buds.

Bird Banding at Jenkins Arboretum.

It was bird banding day today at Jenkins Arboretum in Devon, PA.  Here's a little titmouse getting banded.

This morning as I was driving through the park I saw the little cat again in the field along the road and thought I would say hello. Well, she was not interested in talking to me, and instead caught this poor little mouse just as I rolled down the window.  Oh life in the wild!

Wild Animal in the Field at Valley Forge Park Today

I was looking for the foxes and their cubs this morning, but in their place was this pretty little kitty right there in the middle of a big field.

I found the baby foxes today!!  In fact, I found two separate families of them.  Keep those fingers crossed they stay where they are as they grow and get even cuter.

Northern Flickers in Valley Forge

Last spring I found a pair of northern flickers dancing in the woods at Valley Forge.  I loved their beautiful gaudy yellow underwings.  I really wanted to find them again this year.  Today they were all over the woods.  Here are a few shots.  Hopefully more to come.

Pretty Fox in Valley Forge

I saw my pretty fox again in the big field across from the arch at Valley Forge this morning.  He ran when he first saw me, but I followed him without my tripod.  He finally settled down.  I sat down too and rested my elbows on my knees and steadied my big lens and took his picture.  What a beautiful face staring back at me.
