Found Two New Kits in Valley Forge Today
I took a long walk in the woods today and only found a little chipmunk. Dejected, I was on my way back to the parking lot and heard a few birds and walked in their direction and what do I see, but these two little baby foxes. Made my heart sing. I'm going back tomorrow to see if I can get a little something better.

A Morning with the American Kestrels
There's a tree in Valley Forge where the American Kestrels have made a nest. Many mornings I walk over to say hello. This morning Mr. Kestrel caught a little mouse, flew up into a tree, ate his share, then flew over to the tree where the female was waiting. He made the transfer. She took it and ate the rest. Then she flew to the nest and after watching me for a minute, delivered what she had just eaten to her chirping babies inside the tree.

Check Out Those Wings!
Ken needed a ride today to his last COAD Board meeting. He submitted his letter of resignation and thanked the Board and staff for a wonderful 12 years. He served that board so well. In the mean time, I found this old Canada Goose in the field across the parking lot and took his picture.

A Day Out with the Girls
For so many years a wonderful woman named Michelle Altman (center top photo) has been commenting on my photographs. Until yesterday we had never met. She has always been so witty and oh so very kind. About a week ago she e-mailed and asked if I might like to get together with her and a few friends and show them Valley Forge. Yesterday before all this rain, we did just that. It was a wonderful day - we got a glimpse of the fox kits, and the bluejay nest, and a few warblers. Just had fun slogging through the gnat infested fields. I loved it. Today Michelle sent me a few photographs and wrote about our experience here: http://www.betterphoto.com/ gallery/dynoGallDetail.asp? photoID=14485096 Thank you Michelle and Becky and Jeanne. It was a day to remember.
