Big Boy or Girl in Valley Forge today

I had a mission to find a Praying Mantis in Valley Forge today.   Lots of egg sacks were laid last year  at Paulings Farm.  I drove there today, walked down into the lower field and searched the tall grasses and voila -  There he or she was.  Just magnificent.

Osprey at Eastern College Pond!!

I couldn't believe it, but I guess I could because Eastern College Pond never ceases to amaze.  Yesterday as I was looking for something to photograph, there in the sky was an Osprey!!  First time ever to see one at Eastern.  He circled for a bit and then landed high in a tree overlooking the pond.  I waited and waited for him to descend down and pick up one of the huge carp, but he just said "Not this time."

Oh, The Wonder of it All

This little damselfly could not have been more curious.  He just stayed and stared.  Flew up and away to chase a bug or two, but came back time and time again to look the camera in the eye.  Such magic in the woods.
