This past winter I found two praying mantis egg sacs during my walks in Valley Forge. I put them in my pocket and then put them in a glass jar on the kitchen windowsill with a little covering on the top. Yesterday when we came downstairs the window was covered with hundreds of little baby praying mantises. The cats must have seen all the activity in the glass jar as they hatched and knocked the jar over and everybody escaped. Wild times here for about an hour. I gently tracked down as many as I could. Then took them outside for a photo session and spread them around the garden and in the Japanese Maple Tree. Hopefully there will be many photo opportunities over the summer as they grow.
