The Drone

I live in a very "white" neighborhood.  Today as I was driving to Valley Forge I saw a drone flying in the air about 20 feet above me.  I stopped the car in the middle of the road to watch.  As I stopped a man in another car going slowly in the opposite direction stopped right next to me.  I rolled down my window to tell him to look at the drone, but before I could say anything he said in a rather apologetic tone, "I just delivered a package for UPS."  He was a black man and was basically apologizing to me for being in my neighborhood.  Oh what have we come to in this country? I told him I was looking at the drone.  He looked in his rear view mirror and said, "Oh! It's a drone."  He seemed relieved and then drove off.  What a world.

Tonight I was watching the news and Harry Belafonte, the great singer of the 60's and 70's was talking about Martin Luther King and how our world would be so different had Dr. King not been killed.  But today in 2018, 50 years after Martin Luther King died, white people still hold all the power and until we change, there is little chance for black people to ever feel empowered in the U.S.  Oh it makes me so sad and feeling so powerless to do anything about it....
