American Toad today in Valley Forge National Park. It is just the beginning of the mating season for these little cuties. They come out of the woods and into the vernal pools where there will be a wild orgy for the next few days. The ladies will lay long strings of eggs that will be fertilized and then a few weeks later, thousands and thousands of tadpoles will be the result. They will then turn into little tiny toads and finally will hop back into the woods after the vernal pools dry up.
