- I could hear the trilling as I walked through the woods. Such a thrill. The Great American Toads were there. Many of them and pretty calm. I am not sure if this is the calm before the storm or after the storm, but I caught this guy under a hanging branch and loved him. He is not fully blowing out that pouch under his chin. He may have gotten a little shy with me taking his picture. Anyway he blows up that pouch and makes a loud trilling sound as he tries to attract a female. And it often works, although there always seem to be many more boys than girls.
I came back today and maybe because it was much chillier I saw no toads until I walked into the water. I looked up on the bank and what did I see, but these two mating Toads protesting the likes of Donald Trump. (Please click on the picture to actually see those mating toads!)
